Pakistan National Shipping Corporation (PNSC) has expanded its fleet with the induction of a new oil tanker, MT Karachi, which has arrived at Karachi Port carrying its first cargo.
According to PNSC officials, MT Karachi reached Pakistan from a Gulf country with a shipment of crude oil for the National Refinery Limited. This marks the vessel’s first call at a Pakistani port since joining the national fleet. The oil tanker was acquired at a cost of around 74 million US dollars.
With the addition of MT Karachi, the total number of vessels in the PNSC fleet has increased to 13. Officials further said that the expansion drive will continue, and two more ships are expected to be inducted into the fleet next month.
PNSC officials stated that the addition of new vessels is aimed at strengthening Pakistan’s maritime transport capacity and reducing reliance on foreign shipping for energy imports.
