ISLAMABAD (Internews): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar on Tuesday held a meeting with the ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Pakistan, Jiang Zaidong at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

According to a statement issued by the Foreign Office spokesperson, the two sides discussed bilateral matters of mutual interest and exchanged views on evolving regional and international developments.

The deputy prime minister underscored the importance of maintaining the momentum of high-level contacts and further deepening Pakistan–China bilateral cooperation across various sectors. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening strategic coordination and collaboration.

Pakistan and China enjoy a long-standing strategic partnership rooted in mutual trust, shared interests and close cooperation. Diplomatic relations between the two countries were established in 1951, making Pakistan one of the first nations to recognize the People’s Republic of China. Over the decades, the relationship has evolved into an “all-weather strategic cooperative partnership.”

China has consistently supported Pakistan on core national issues, while Pakistan has stood by China on matters of sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Economic cooperation remains a cornerstone of bilateral ties, particularly through the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), a flagship project of China’s Belt and Road Initiative. CPEC has contributed to infrastructure development, energy generation and regional connectivity in Pakistan.

Beyond economics, the two countries maintain close collaboration in defense, diplomacy, education and people-to-people exchanges. Regular high-level visits and consultations continue to reinforce the depth of Pakistan–China relations, which are widely regarded as a stabilizing factor in the region.
