China has urged the United States to stop depriving the Cuban people of their rights to subsistence and development, condemning Washington’s reported plans to intensify its blockade against the island.
Spokesperson Guo Jiakun made the remarks Tuesday in response to a media query about Cuba’s denunciation of the U.S. actions. Guo said China is deeply concerned about and opposes the U.S. measures, calling on Washington to stop disrupting regional peace and stability, cease violating international law, and immediately lift its blockade and sanctions on Cuba.
“China will continue to do what it can to provide assistance and support to Cuba. We’re confident that under the strong leadership of the Communist Party of Cuba and the government of Cuba, Cuban people will surely tide over the current difficulty,” Guo added.
