Pakistan likely to boycott match against India in T20 World Cup

1 min read

The final decision on whether Pakistan will participate in the upcoming T20 World Cup is expected today, sources said.

According to officials, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi will consult Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif before announcing the board’s decision. Options under consideration include a full boycott of the tournament or a selective boycott, where Pakistan would skip only the match against India. Sources indicate that the latter is the more likely course of action.

The development comes after PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi publicly supported Bangladesh Cricket Board’s decision not to play in India, describing it as principled and criticizing the International Cricket Council (ICC) for applying “double standards.”

A formal announcement from the PCB is expected after consultations with the Prime Minister and other relevant authorities.
