Derbyshire Falcons sign Pakistan’s Sufiyan Muqeem for 2026 Vitality Blast

England’s Derbyshire Falcons have signed Pakistan’s young cricketer Sufiyan Muqeem for the 2026 Vitality Blast, the club announced on Tuesday.

The Falcons also confirmed that fellow Pakistani spinner Mohammad Ghazanfar will join the squad. Sufiyan Muqeem will be available for the initial group stage matches, while Ghazanfar is set to feature in the later stages and knockout matches.

Muqeem, a left-arm wrist spinner, has already made a mark in international franchise cricket, famously taking three wickets for five runs in a T20 match for Pakistan. He recently impressed while working under coach Mickey Arthur in the Bangladesh Premier League.

Mickey Arthur, Derbyshire’s Head of Cricket, praised Muqeem as an emerging T20 star with the ability to perform under pressure. He added that signing two international spinners despite overlapping tournament schedules is a major achievement for the club, ensuring team balance throughout the season.
