President Zardari approves confirmation of additional high court judges

President of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari, has approved the confirmation and extension of tenure for additional judges of the Sindh, Lahore, and Peshawar High Courts.

The approvals were granted based on recommendations from the Judicial Commission of Pakistan, aiming to ensure effective functioning of the judiciary and timely resolution of pending cases.

President Zardari issued all approvals on the advice of the Prime Minister. Ten additional judges of the Sindh High Court Justice Miran Muhammad Shah, Justice Tasneem Sultana, Justice Riazat Ali Sahar, Justice Muhammad Hassan, Justice Abdul Hameed Bhagi, Justice Jan Ali Junejo, Justice Nisar Ahmed Bhanbhro, Justice Ali Haider, Justice Muhammad Usman Ali Hadi, and Justice Muhammad Jafar Raza—were confirmed as permanent judges.

Two additional judges of the Sindh High Court, Justice Khalid Hussain Shahani and Justice Syed Faiz-ul-Hasan Shah, received a six-month extension of tenure.

Eleven additional judges of the Lahore High Court Justice Hassan Nawaz Makhdoom, Justice Malik Waqar Haider Awan, Justice Sardar Akbar Ali, Justice Syed Ahsan Raza Kazmi, Justice Malik Javed Iqbal Vance, Justice Muhammad Jawad Zafar, Justice Khalid Ishaq, Justice Malik Muhammad Owais Khalid, Justice Chaudhry Sultan Mahmood, Justice Tanveer Ahmed Sheikh, and Justice Abhar Gul Khan—were confirmed as permanent judges.

The tenure of Lahore High Court additional judge Justice Tariq Mahmood Bajwa was extended by six months.

Six additional judges of the Peshawar High Court—Justice Muhammad Tariq Afridi, Justice Abdul Fayyaz, Justice Salahuddin Mustaqil, Justice Sadiq Ali, Justice Syed Mudassir Amir, and Justice Qazi Jawad Ehsanullah—were confirmed as permanent judges.

The tenure of four additional judges of the Peshawar High Court—Justice Farah Jamshed, Justice Inamullah Khan, Justice Sibatullah Khan, and Justice Aurangzeb—was extended by six months.
