Former Pakistan captain Babar Azam’s stint in the Big Bash League (BBL) has come to an early end, with Sydney Sixers announcing he will be unavailable for the remaining matches of the season.
The Sixers, in a statement on social media, said Babar Azam has been immediately called back to join the Pakistan team camp ahead of upcoming national assignments. They confirmed he will not participate in the remaining Challenger Series and thanked him for his contribution to the BBL campaign.
Babar Azam, in a video message, expressed gratitude to the Sydney Sixers’ coaches, teammates, and fans. “I thoroughly enjoyed my time here, but due to national duty, I have to leave the team. I’m returning with great memories and I thank the fans for their support,” he said.
The Sydney Sixers are scheduled to face Hobart Hurricanes in the Challenger Final, with the winning team advancing to the BBL final on Sunday against Perth Scorchers.
