With the start of the new season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), the possible new categories for local players have been revealed ahead of the players’ auction.
According to media sources, the list for PSL 11 shows Islamabad United’s Shadab Khan, Imad Wasim, and Naseem Shah remain in the Platinum category. Sahibzada Farhan is in Gold, while Salman Ali Agha and Mohammad Nawaz have moved from Diamond to Platinum. Wicketkeeper-batsman Azam Khan has moved from Diamond to Gold.
For Karachi Kings, Hasan Ali has been upgraded from Diamond to Platinum, while Abbas Afridi has dropped from Platinum to Diamond. Khushdil Shah and Aamer Jamal have moved from Diamond to Gold, and Arfat Manhas has dropped from Gold to Silver. National Test captain Shan Masood remains in Diamond.
Lahore Qalandars’ Shaheen Afridi, Fakhar Zaman, and Haris Rauf remain in Platinum. Salman Mirza has moved from Gold to Diamond, and Mohammad Naeem has moved from Emerging to Silver.
Peshawar Zalmi’s Babar Azam and Saem Ayub remain in Platinum, while Mohammad Haris and Mohammad Ali have moved from Diamond to Gold.
Multan Sultans’ Mohammad Rizwan remains in Platinum, while Usama Mir and Iftikhar Ahmed have moved from Platinum to Diamond. Mohammad Hasnain has dropped from Diamond to Gold, while Akif Javed has moved from Silver to Gold.
Quetta Gladiators’ Faheem Ashraf and Mohammad Amir remain in Platinum, while Abrar Ahmed has moved from Diamond to Platinum. Waseem Junior has moved from Gold to Diamond, Usman Tariq from Silver to Diamond, and Khawaja Nafees and Hasan Nawaz from Silver and Emerging, respectively, to Gold.
It is noteworthy that for the first time in PSL history, players will be selected through an auction rather than a draft.
