Customs Peshawar seizes smuggled goods worth Rs. 170m

Customs Enforcement Peshawar has seized smuggled goods and offending vehicles worth Rs. 170 million in three successful anti-smuggling operations, dealing a major blow to smuggling, illicit trade, and narcotics trafficking.

The seizures were carried out by different formations of the Collectorate, which intercepted attempts to smuggle foreign-origin charas (hashish), cashew nuts, black pepper, cigarettes, miscellaneous items, and a non-duty-paid Toyota Hilux Surf, along with multiple offending vehicles.

ASD Nowshera recovered 3,430 kilograms of foreign-origin black pepper and 2,420 kilograms of foreign-origin cashew nuts, and detained an offending Mazda truck bearing registration number LEI-8919.

ASD D.I. Khan seized 27.7 kilograms of foreign-origin charas (hashish) along with an offending Mazda truck bearing registration number TAR-698. The team also recovered foreign-origin Toyota fuel filter assemblies weighing eight kilograms, brand new CV joints weighing 18 kilograms, and foreign-origin cigarettes including Benson & Hedges, Captain Black, L&M, and HP. Tobacco flavour, pan masala, and cigars were also seized during the operation.

ASD Hazara seized a foreign-origin Toyota Hilux Surf, Model 1991, bearing Chassis Number LN130-0056092, color blue grey.

The total value of the seized goods and vehicles has been estimated at Rs. 170 million. Legal proceedings under the relevant provisions of law have been initiated.

The Federal Board of Revenue reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening enforcement actions to curb smuggling and protect the national economy.
