A new western weather system has entered Punjab, bringing forecasts of severe cold, rainfall, and snowfall across the province, authorities said.

According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), the system is currently affecting Lahore and other areas, keeping temperatures low and fog persistent.

Between January 20 and 23, heavy snowfall and rain are expected in Murree, Galyat, and other hilly regions, with rain likely in most districts of Punjab.

PDMA Director General Irfan Ali Kathia said local government, health authorities, Rescue 1122, police, forest department, C&W, tourism, and transport departments have been put on high alert. Emergency control room staff will remain on duty 24/7 to respond to any situation.

The Meteorological Department forecasted minimum temperatures of 4°C and maximum temperatures of 14°C in Lahore. Citizens have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel during adverse weather and for tourists traveling to Murree to follow safety guidelines.

To assist visitors, PDMA has established facilitation centers at key locations in Murree. The authority urged the public to adhere to precautionary measures and contact the PDMA helpline at 1129 in case of emergencies.
