Extremely cold weather continues to grip parts of Pakistan, with Kalam recording the lowest temperature at minus 6 degrees Celsius, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department.

Parachinar recorded minus 4 degrees, while Dir Upper saw temperatures fall to minus 3 degrees Celsius. The mercury dropped to minus 2 degrees in Saidu Sharif, Swat.

The Met Office said temperatures of minus 1 degree Celsius were recorded in Drosh Chitral, Timergara and Balakot, while Mir Khani and Chitral city recorded zero degrees. Malam Jabba reported a temperature of one degree Celsius, while Kakul and parts of Chitral recorded three degrees.

According to the weather department, most districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are expected to experience dry and very cold conditions, with severe cold likely to persist in upper and mountainous areas.

Fog is likely to develop in the plains, including Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Mardan, Swabi, Karak, Bannu and Lakki Marwat. The Met Office warned that dense fog may particularly affect Tank and Dera Ismail Khan, especially on motorways, national highways and the GT Road during early morning and nighttime hours.

The department also forecast the possibility of mist and light fog in some upper and plain areas during late night and early morning, which may reduce visibility and disrupt traffic flow.
