ANF seizes over Rs240 million worth of drugs in nationwide crackdown

ANF (Anti-Narcotics Force) has recovered narcotics worth over Rs240 million during a nationwide crackdown against smuggling.

According to ANF officials, the force conducted operations near educational institutions and across various cities in the country, carrying out a total of nine operations. Five suspects were arrested, and 258.94 kilograms of drugs, valued at more than Rs240.48 million, were seized.

During an operation near Sahu Chowk in Multan, 2 kilograms of ice were recovered from a suspect’s bag. The suspect admitted to selling drugs to students in nearby educational institutions.

Other seizures included 2.5 kilograms of ice hidden inside books at a courier office in Gulberg, Lahore, destined for Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. At the cargo shed of Allama Iqbal Airport, 765 grams of ice were recovered from a parcel heading to Dubai. In addition, 6.72 kilograms (67,200 valium pills) were seized from a parcel at a Lahore courier office bound for the United Kingdom.

In Peshawar, 15.6 kilograms of opium were recovered from a vehicle near Rang Road, with the suspect arrested on the spot. On the Indus Highway near Kohat, 10.8 kilograms of hashish were seized from a vehicle, leading to the arrest of two suspects. Near Fateh Jang Toll Plaza in Islamabad, 2.4 kilograms of hashish were recovered from another vehicle.

Additional seizures included 20.16 kilograms of valium pills from a parcel arriving from Karachi at a courier office on GT Road, Lahore, and 198 kilograms of heroin near Western Bypass, Hazarganji, Quetta.

The ANF said all operations have been registered under the Control of Narcotics Substances Act, 1997, and investigations are ongoing.
