Iranian President urges calm, promises to tackle economic crisis

1 min read

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Sunday said the government is determined to address the country’s economic problems while urging citizens to refrain from any “destructive actions.”

In a televised interview with state-run IRIB news agency, Pezeshkian accused the United States and Israel of directing “rioters” to create instability in Iran.

His remarks come amid ongoing protests across several Iranian cities since late December, triggered by the sharp fall of the rial and long-standing economic hardship. Deadly clashes between police and groups described by the government as “rioters” have been reported in recent days.
