Former Senator Mushtaq Ahmed announced the formation of a new political party, the Pakistan Rights Movement (PRM), during a ceremony in the federal capital attended by party leaders, activists, supporters, and civil society representatives.

Speaking at the event held at a private hotel, Mushtaq Ahmed said the party would operate in accordance with the principles of the 1973 Constitution, recognizing the supreme authority of Allah and upholding Islamic values. “Our mission is to serve all citizens equally, ensuring that ordinary people are not deprived of their fundamental rights,” he said.

The newly established party aims to end elite monopolies, promote social and economic justice, provide swift and affordable access to justice, uphold freedom of expression, improve education and healthcare, eradicate poverty and corruption, end extrajudicial killings, and build trust among federal units.

Mushtaq Ahmed criticized the current parliamentary system, calling it “fraudulent,” and highlighted pressing national issues including unemployment, inflation, food insecurity, drug abuse, environmental degradation, and corruption. He also raised concerns about defense budgets, elite monopolies, payments to independent power producers, youth unemployment, and human trafficking.

He emphasized that military operations should be preceded by consultation with the public, assemblies, and regional councils, urging the armed forces to avoid political activity, secure the country’s borders, and support competent and honest leadership to guide Pakistan in the right direction.
