The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Corporate Crime Circle Lahore has arrested three suspects for their alleged involvement in violations of the Copyright Act, officials said on Saturday.
According to an FIA spokesperson, the arrested individuals were identified as Shamim Ahmed, Amjad Ali and Kaleemullah. The arrests were made during separate operations conducted in Lahore and Nankana Sahib.
The spokesperson said the suspects were found involved in the manufacturing, storage and sale of counterfeit products bearing the names of registered companies. A large quantity of fake goods belonging to various registered brands was recovered from their possession during the raids.
FIA officials said the suspects were operating in violation of copyright laws by producing and selling counterfeit items, causing financial losses to legitimate companies. The seized goods have been taken into custody as evidence.
The arrested suspects have been shifted to FIA custody, and a formal investigation has been initiated to trace the wider network involved in the production and distribution of counterfeit products, the agency added.
