A committee meeting on addressing grievances of Diamer-Bhasha Dam-affected people was held under the chairmanship of Federal Minister for Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Safron, Engineer Amir Maqam on January 8.
The meeting was attended by Federal Minister for Law and Justice Senator Azam Nazir Tarar, Federal Minister for Water Resources Mian Muhammad Moeen Wattoo (via video link), Caretaker Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan Justice (R) Yar Muhammad (via video link), WAPDA Chairman Lieutenant General (R) Muhammad Saeed, Secretary Kashmir Affairs Zafar Hasan, Chief Secretary Gilgit-Baltistan Abrar Ahmed Mirza, Additional Secretary Kashmir Affairs Kamran Rehman Khan, and Joint Secretary GB Council Sudhir Khattak.
During the session, it was decided that agreements made with the affected communities of Diamer-Bhasha Dam will be implemented on a priority basis.
Speaking at the meeting, Engineer Amir Maqam emphasized that the development of Gilgit-Baltistan and the welfare of its people are among Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif’s top priorities. He added that all possible measures are being taken to ensure the region’s progress, prosperity, and the resolution of issues faced by the dam’s affected people.
