The constitutional bench of the Sindh High Court has ordered the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) in connection with the recovery of missing citizens, following petitions filed by family members.
The court issued the directive while hearing petitions related to enforced disappearances. Counsel for the petitioner argued that the missing citizens were taken into custody from their home by police personnel. He said that after the raid, efforts were made to contact Sachal Police Station regarding the detained individuals, but the police expressed ignorance about their whereabouts.
The court took on record the replies submitted by the parties and observed that no clear information had been provided about the missing citizens. It subsequently directed the petitioner to approach the relevant police station for registration of an FIR and ordered that a case be formally lodged to facilitate efforts for their recovery.
The petition for the recovery of Shah Waliullah and Abdul Latif was filed by Ms Rabia Basri. In her plea, she named the Inspector General of Sindh Police, DIG West Karachi, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Civil Lines, the SHO Sachal Police Station, and others as respondents.
