Punjab reported 625 cases of extortion during 2025, according to official data compiled by the Crime Control Department (CCD).
The CCD prepared a detailed breakdown of extortion cases reported across major cities to identify and track active criminal groups. The data shows that Multan recorded the highest number of extortion cases, with 70 incidents registered during the year. Lahore followed closely with 68 reported cases.
Faisalabad and Bahawalpur each reported 38 cases of extortion, while Muzaffargarh recorded 37 incidents linked to active criminal elements. In Kasur, 29 cases were registered, while Sheikhupura and Rawalpindi each reported 26 incidents. Gujranwala recorded 22 extortion cases during the same period.
Officials said the data would be used to map criminal networks and improve targeted policing in high-risk areas. Authorities also warned that individuals and groups involved in extortion would face strict legal action as part of an intensified crackdown.
