Court takes up petition alleging fake police encounter killing in Rawalpindi

2 min read

A court in Rawalpindi has fixed for hearing a petition seeking registration of a murder case against Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) officers over the alleged fake police encounter killing of a man identified as Naeem, also known as Guddu.

The petition, filed by the deceased’s sister Asia Bibi, was accepted for hearing at Waris Khan police station jurisdiction. She alleged that her brother was arrested alive from their home and later killed in a staged police encounter.

During the proceedings, the petitioner submitted video footage to the court, claiming it showed Naeem being arrested alive from his house. According to the petition, Inspector Sardar Asim and Inspector Mohsin Shah, along with around 15 police officials, detained Naeem from his residence and later took him to Chakwal, where he was allegedly killed.

The petitioner maintained that police officials fabricated a fake encounter on Chakwal Road to justify the killing.
Meanwhile, district police Chakwal submitted a report stating that the incident occurred on November 30 and that no Chakwal police personnel were involved in the alleged killing.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Sahibzada Naqeeb Shehzad issued notices to the concerned police officers and summoned the inspectors and other officials involved. The court directed them to appear on January 7.

The petition seeks court orders for registration of a criminal case against the police officers on charges of abduction and murder.
