Afghanistan’s total trade in goods surged to nearly $14 billion in 2025, marking a significant year-on-year increase, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry announced on Monday.
According to foreign media, the ministry spokesman Akhundzada Abdul Salam Jawad said “The country’s overall trade volume stood at $13.93 billion, with exports totaling $1.8 billion and imports amounting to over $12.12 billion.”
Key exports included fresh and dried fruits, saffron, herbal medicines, vegetables, minerals, and carpets, while major imports consisted of petroleum products, machinery, vehicles, wheat, natural gas, cotton textiles, sugar, rice, and dairy products, among others.
Afghanistan’s primary export destinations were India, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, UAE, Kazakhstan, Iran, Türkiye, China, Iraq, and Tajikistan, while the main sources of imports included Iran, UAE, Pakistan, China, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Russia, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, and India, Jawad added.
For comparison, Afghanistan’s total trade volume in 2024 stood at $12.42 billion, reflecting notable growth in both imports and exports over the past year.
