Following the advice of the Prime Minister, President Asif Ali Zardari has signed the Capital Development Authority (CDA) Amendment Bill 2025, and the government has issued the official gazette notification announcing its enactment.
The bill, which passed the Senate on November 7, 2025, and was approved by the National Assembly on December 8 without any amendments, is now officially an Act of Parliament.
Under the new law, compensation for land and property acquired by the CDA can be provided not only in cash but also in the form of land or other alternatives. Additionally, Deputy Commissioners are now authorized to award separate contracts for land and building acquisitions.
The amendment is expected to streamline CDA’s operations and provide greater flexibility in urban development projects across the federal capital.
