Pakistan has successfully conducted the flight test of its indigenously developed Taimur Weapon System, marking a significant milestone in the country’s aerospace and defense capabilities, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The test was carried out by the Pakistan Air Force (PAF), demonstrating the missile’s precision strike abilities against both land and sea targets. The Taimur is an air-launched cruise missile with a range of 600 kilometers and is capable of carrying conventional warheads. Equipped with an advanced navigation and guidance system, it is designed to fly at low altitudes to evade enemy air and missile defense systems, enhancing Pakistan’s operational flexibility and deterrence.

ISPR noted that the successful flight test reflects Pakistan’s technological maturity, innovation, and self-reliance in the defense sector. Senior military officials, scientists, and engineers involved in the missile’s development were present during the test, underscoring the collaborative effort behind this achievement.

Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu congratulated the scientists, engineers, and the PAF team, lauding their professionalism, dedication, and commitment to strengthening national defense capabilities. He emphasized that such achievements reflect Pakistan’s national resolve for technological self-sufficiency and the ability to maintain credible deterrence in a changing regional security environment.

President Asif Ali Zardari praised the Pakistan Air Force for the successful test, calling it a demonstration of national capability, institutional expertise, and self-reliance in defense technology. He said the development of indigenous weapons strengthens Pakistan’s defense and supports regional stability, highlighting the contribution of scientists, engineers, and military personnel in advancing the country’s strategic capabilities.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif also congratulated the nation and the Pakistan Air Force on the successful flight test. He extended his appreciation to Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu, and all scientists and engineers who contributed to the development of the Taimur Weapon System.

The successful test of the Taimur missile system underscores Pakistan’s ongoing focus on operational readiness, technological advancement, and the strengthening of national security in the face of evolving regional challenges.
