KP govt orders termination of 645 employees hired during caretaker tenure

The Higher Education Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has directed universities to terminate 645 employees hired during the caretaker period within 10 days, issuing instructions for immediate compliance under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Removal from Service Act 2025.

The department has requested universities to submit detailed reports on the affected employees without delay. The recruitment took place across 18 universities during the caretaker government’s tenure.

According to details provided by the department, the largest number of affected staff were at Women University Mardan (140 employees) and Agricultural University Dera Ismail Khan (120). Other universities impacted include University of Buner (76), University of Chitral (63), University of Malakand (54), University of Science and Technology (34), and Bacha Khan University Charsadda (33).

At the Institute of Management Sciences, 32 employees are affected, while Swat University accounts for 22, Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University Sheringal 15, Bannu University of Science and Technology 14, and University of Lakki Marwat 11. Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan has nine affected staff members, and Shaheed Army Public School University Nowshera eight. Haripur University and Peshawar University each have six and four affected employees respectively, with Pak-Austria University Haripur also reporting four.

The Higher Education Department has emphasized strict adherence to the removal process, instructing all universities to ensure immediate action in line with the law.
