Pakistan has rejected Israel’s announcement recognizing Somaliland, reaffirming its support for Somalia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Speaking during an emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council, Pakistan’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN, Usman Jadoon, said Islamabad does not accept Israel’s decision to recognize the self-declared Somaliland region.
He told the council that Pakistan stands firmly with Somalia and will continue to support its position in line with international law and relevant UN resolutions. Jadoon also warned that Israel was seeking to relocate Palestinians displaced from Gaza to Somaliland, calling the move alarming and destabilizing.
The Pakistani envoy said the Somali government is taking steps to strengthen national stability, while Israel’s actions reflect an irresponsible approach that could further destabilize the region. He described the recognition of Somaliland as a clear violation of international law.
Pakistan reiterated that any attempt to undermine Somalia’s unity and territorial integrity is unacceptable and contrary to established international norms.
