Railway Police returned cash worth around Rs3.8 million to a passenger after it was left behind on a moving train, setting an example of honesty and professionalism.
The passenger, Mohsin Mushtaq was travelling from Karachi to Toba Tek Singh on Pakistan Express. Upon reaching Hyderabad railway station, he got off the train briefly for personal reasons. During this time, the train departed, leaving behind his luggage, which contained a large amount of cash.
During routine duty, Constable Rao Sharif found the unattended bag on the moving train and immediately took it into custody. Around the same time, Mohsin Mushtaq approached the railway police station and reported that his luggage had been left on the train. He was informed that the bag had already been recovered by railway police.
The passenger then travelled to Rohri by Karakoram Express. At the Rohri railway help centre, in the presence of a sub-inspector, Mohsin Mushtaq identified his bag. After a complete count and verification, railway police handed over approximately Rs3.8 million in cash to the passenger.
Mohsin Mushtaq praised the railway police for their honesty and professional conduct and later released a video message expressing his gratitude.
