The Punjab government has announced that buses and rickshaws will operate for free in Lahore on February 6, 7, and 8 as part of measures for the upcoming Basant festival.
An important meeting was held in Lahore to discuss Basant arrangements and safety precautions, officials said. Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari stated that free public transport aims to reduce the use of motorcycles during the celebrations, minimizing the risk of accidents.
The minister added that starting December 30, the manufacturing of kite strings and kites will be permitted in the province, allowing timely preparation for the festival.
