The Pakistani government has written to the United Kingdom, urging action against social media accounts linked to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party that are circulating videos calling for the assassination of the country’s Army Chief.
According to media reports, in the letter sent to the British Home Office, the government described the content as a clear attempt to incite violence against a senior military official, emphasizing that it goes beyond political rhetoric or free speech. Islamabad requested that the UK identify those responsible for posting such material, investigate them, and take legal action.
The letter highlighted that PTI-affiliated platforms have been repeatedly involved in spreading messages of unrest, violence, and insecurity within Pakistan. The government also urged the UK to ensure that its territory is not used to promote violence or terrorism against Pakistan, framing the matter as a test of Britain’s commitment to counterterrorism and responsible state conduct.
Pakistan warned that any inaction could be seen as undermining trust and cooperation between the two countries. The letter called for prompt legal and administrative measures against PTI accounts inciting violence and demanded that the UK take decisive steps to prevent its soil from being used to fuel unrest in Pakistan.
