AJK forms public accounts committee, former minister appointed chairman

he Government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir has established a six-member Public Accounts Committee (PAC) to oversee financial accountability in the region.

Former Finance Minister and member of the Legislative Assembly, Abdul Majid Khan, has been appointed as the chairman of the committee. According to a notification issued by the AJK Legislative Assembly Secretariat, Majid Khan will receive privileges equivalent to those of a minister.

Other members of the committee include Sardar Atiq Ahmed Khan of the Muslim Conference, Colonel (Retired) Waqar Noor of the Pakistan Muslim League-N, and Choudhry Muhammad Akbar Ibrahim, Asim Sharif Butt, and Taqdees Gilani of the Pakistan Peoples Party.

The PAC is tasked with reviewing public expenditures and ensuring transparency in government financial matters, a move seen as part of the region’s efforts to strengthen legislative oversight.
