Renowned Pakistani actress Saba Qamar has once again made headlines, but this time not for a film or drama, rather due to a legal notice filed against her. The case stems from a video circulating on social media in which the actress can be seen wearing a police superintendent (SP) uniform inside a dressing room, allegedly without official permission.
The notice was filed in the Lahore Sessions Court by citizen Wasim Zawar through his lawyer Aftab Bajwa. The petition claimed that under the law, no individual is permitted to wear police uniforms or SP insignia without government authorization. Legal proceedings regarding the matter are currently underway.
Responding to the controversy with humor, Saba Qamar shared an Instagram story featuring laughing emojis and wrote, “Oh my God! Looks like I’ve become very famous these days.” Her lighthearted response quickly drew attention and praise on social media.
The matter also sparked commentary from Raheel Rao, Editor-in-Chief of Diva magazine, who defended Saba Qamar in an Instagram post. Using a satirical tone, he remarked that actors portray characters according to scripts, and it is unreasonable to expect them to wear wedding attire or formal suits when depicting a police officer.
The actress’s fans have largely supported her humorous response, emphasizing that the uniform was part of a performance rather than a real-life impersonation. The case highlights the intersection of celebrity, social media scrutiny, and legal boundaries in Pakistan’s entertainment industry.
