The Balochistan Provincial Assembly Secretariat has released a comprehensive performance report for the Assembly’s second parliamentary year, covering the period from February 28, 2024, to December 2025. The report highlights significant legislative activity, parliamentary proceedings, and progress in addressing public issues during 92 sitting days.
According to the report, the provincial assembly passed a total of 26 bills during this period, reflecting legislative focus on key sectors such as economic reforms, minerals, agriculture, taxation, and counter-terrorism.
Prominent among the approved laws are the Balochistan Finance Bill 2024–25, which provided budget approval, the Agricultural Income Tax (Amendment) Bill 2024, the Mines and Minerals Development Bill, and the Anti-Terrorism (Amendment) Bill 2025. Other legislation addressed areas including health, education, local government, and regulation of the private sector.
The report noted that four additional bills are currently under consideration by standing committees and are expected to be presented for approval in the near future.
During the second parliamentary year, the assembly also adopted 11 government and 30 private members’ resolutions, focusing on pressing public concerns such as water scarcity, electricity supply, healthcare services, education, and infrastructure development. Additionally, 25 call attention notices raised by members were addressed promptly, helping resolve urgent public complaints.
In terms of parliamentary oversight, the provincial government provided complete and satisfactory replies to 114 questions posed by assembly members, a move described in the report as strengthening accountability and transparency.
The performance document further revealed that four in-camera sessions were held during the year to deliberate on sensitive national and provincial matters, including security issues, economic stability, and major development initiatives.
The current 12th Balochistan Provincial Assembly, which held its first sitting on February 28, 2024, remained active in its second parliamentary year. The report highlighted instances where opposition members supported government-backed bills and resolutions in the public interest, reflecting a degree of political cooperation within the house.
Political analysts believe the legislative performance underscores the assembly’s focus on addressing Balochistan’s longstanding challenges, particularly economic difficulties, management of mineral resources, and implementation of development projects.
Sources in the Assembly Secretariat said a detailed list of all approved legislation will be published soon. Citizens have been encouraged to visit the official assembly website for updated information.
