As every year, Hollywood released hundreds of films in 2025, many of which proved to be box office hits and were well-received by fans. Among them, five films stood out as the biggest earners and crowd favorites.
According to foreign media, topping the list is the science fiction blockbuster Avatar: Fire and Fish, released on December 19. The third installment of the Avatar series, directed by James Cameron, created a storm at the box office within just three days, breaking 11 records and earning over $310 million. The film continues the story from where the previous installment left off. Returning cast members include Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, and Stephen Lang, while new additions include Una Chaplin and Harry Potter star David Thewlis.
Another major hit was A Minecraft Movie, released on April 4, featuring Jason Momoa, Jack Black, and Emma Myers in lead roles, with Jennifer Coolidge and Daniel Brooks also in the cast. The film earned $42.39 million at the box office.
Lilo & Stitch, produced by Walt Disney Feature Animation and released on May 23, performed exceptionally well, generating $42.37 million in revenue.
The new Superman film, released on July 11, also saw a strong opening, earning $35.41 million and securing the third spot among the top films of the year.
Jurassic World: Rebirth, the seventh installment in the famous Jurassic Park series, premiered on July 2. Starring Scarlett Johansson and Jonathan Bailey, the film earned a total of $33.96 million in the United States.
Finally, Wicked: For Good, released on November 21, had an impressive opening and grossed $32.24 million overall, rounding out the top five box office hits of the year.
