Adviser to the Privatization Commission, Muhammad Ali, along with Federal Minister for Information Ata Tarar, said at a press conference that the government prioritized transparency, national interest, and the improvement of the company in the recent process of privatizing Pakistan International Airlines (PIA).

Muhammad Ali stated that the privatization will bring Rs 55 billion directly to the government. He explained that the most challenging part of the transaction was ensuring that the government received a fair price while also securing commitment from the new buyer to invest in and improve the company.

According to the adviser, under the agreement, the government will directly receive Rs 55 billion, while the company’s assets are valued at Rs 45 billion. In addition, Rs 125 billion will be invested directly into PIA for its operational needs and development. This makes the total valuation of the airline Rs 180 billion.

Muhammad Ali praised the Privatization Commission team for their extraordinary efforts and support over the past few days, saying that the government does not anticipate any unnecessary confusion or issues regarding the transaction.

He also acknowledged the role of the media, highlighting responsible reporting and full support provided throughout the process.
