Government employees who applied to serve as Khuddam-ul-Hajj (Hajj volunteers) for the next year have filed complaints alleging serious violations of merit in the selection process.
The applicants raised their concerns on the Prime Minister’s Complaint Portal, claiming that merit lists were announced without conducting physical tests, depriving new candidates of their rightful opportunity.
According to complainants, some candidates received selection messages within minutes of the results being uploaded on the portal on the night of December 20.
Applications from government employees for Khuddam-ul-Hajj were invited until November 30. Many candidates also approached the Federal Ombudsman regarding alleged irregularities in the examination, requesting that selections be made strictly on merit.
Sources indicate that even the physical tests for successful candidates were reportedly canceled. A spokesperson for the Ministry of Religious Affairs stated that each year 70 percent of selected candidates are repeat volunteers while 30 percent are new, with quotas allocated to all provinces based on population.
