The scenic Kashmir valley known for its lush green mountains, dense forests, waterfalls, flowing rivers and historical sites continues to attract tourists from across the country and abroad.
Every year, millions of domestic and foreign visitors travel to different parts of Azad Kashmir to witness its natural beauty. According to the Department of Tourism and Archaeology, more than 1.5 million tourists visited the plains and mountainous regions of Azad Kashmir during 2025.
Officials said the number of visitors is expected to increase significantly by the end of June 2026, as new tourist destinations are being introduced to promote tourism in the region.
Director General Tourism and Archaeology Chaudhry Mehrban said adventure-seeking tourists prefer areas such as Leepa Valley, Neelum Valley, Ganga Choti and other snow-covered mountainous regions during the winter season.
He added that the rising number of tourists has created new employment opportunities for the local population.
Authorities said alongside tourism promotion, efforts are also underway to improve facilities to ensure a safe and pleasant environment for visitors.
