Chairman easypaisa highlights scale and capital gap in Pakistan’s tech sector

Board Chairman of easypaisa Irfan Wahab Khan said Pakistan’s technology sector does not suffer from a lack of ideas but faces serious challenges in scaling businesses and accessing capital, as he spoke at the Paklaunch (PL) Islamabad Meetup held at the National Incubation Center (NIC) Islamabad.

The Islamabad-based gathering, hosted in partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS), brought together startup founders, investors, accelerators, and ecosystem stakeholders from across the country. The event aimed to strengthen linkages within Pakistan’s tech ecosystem by creating a shared space for dialogue among entrepreneurs, venture capital firms, and industry leaders.

Irfan Wahab Khan participated in a panel discussion titled “Talent, Capital, and Traction: What’s Holding Pakistan Back?” alongside Faisal Aftab, Founder and CEO of Zayn VC. The discussion focused on persistent challenges that continue to limit the scale and sustainability of local startups.

“Pakistan has no shortage of ideas or ambition; the real gap lies in patient capital, execution-ready talent, and the ability to scale beyond early traction,” Irfan Wahab Khan said during the panel.

Panelists stressed the importance of stronger collaboration between founders and investors, improved access to growth-stage capital, and policy continuity to help Pakistan’s digital economy compete at a regional level.

The Paklaunch Islamabad Meetup attracted participation from startup founders, venture capitalists, and technology professionals, highlighting Islamabad’s growing role as a hub for innovation and entrepreneurship.

easypaisa’s participation in such forums reflects its continued commitment to supporting Pakistan’s technology and fintech ecosystem through informed dialogue, collaboration, and long-term value creation.
