Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has emphasized that increasing exports is essential for Pakistan’s economic growth.
Chairing a review meeting on national exports, the Prime Minister was briefed on the performance of exports and imports for the current fiscal year 2025-2026. The meeting was attended by Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan, Federal Minister for Finance Muhammad Aurangzeb, Federal Minister for National Food Security Rana Tanveer Hussain, Minister of State for Finance and Railways Bilal Azhar Kiani, Special Advisor to the Prime Minister Haroon Akhtar, and senior government officials.
Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister said the government is committed to providing all possible support to businesses and exporters to boost trade. He stressed that priority should be given to the development of small and medium-sized enterprises to expand exports while simultaneously creating employment opportunities.
The Prime Minister directed federal ministers for commerce, industries, and national food security to visit industrial and trade hubs and engage directly with exporters. He also highlighted the need to strengthen provincial coordination to promote cold chain infrastructure and related industrial and commercial sectors, which are critical for expanding the export sector.
