Karachi authorities have uncovered large-scale forgery in property records at the Sub-Registrar Office in Jamshed Town. A high-level inquiry revealed 24 fake sale deeds were illegally registered using forged stamps, signatures, and altered records.
The Chief Minister’s Inspection Team submitted its report to the Sindh Chief Minister, highlighting that important registers and official documents were missing from the office.
The inquiry recommended filing a case against property dealer Manwar Ali Dharijo for producing fake documents. Sub-Registrar Abid Ali Soomro faces allegations of data tampering and altering digital records. The committee recommended legal and departmental action against all involved officials.
While courts hold the authority to cancel fake registrations, the report pointed to systemic flaws in Sindh’s land registration system. The inquiry suggested introducing new laws, adopting the Torrens system, and implementing a unique property code for e-registration. Full digitization of all records in sub-registrar offices was also recommended. The report has been submitted to the Sindh Chief Minister for approval of its recommendations.
