Several Pakistani cricketers are reportedly willing to leave the Big Bash League (BBL) to join the upcoming series against Sri Lanka in preparation for the World Cup.
Sources say that players currently representing different teams in the BBL have contacted the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) expressing their desire to participate in the Sri Lanka series. They believe that the pitch and playing conditions in Australia differ significantly from those in Sri Lanka, and going directly from Australia to the World Cup could affect their performance.
The development comes a day after Cricket Australia’s CEO assured that the full BBL event would continue as scheduled, despite the absence of Pakistani players for the Sri Lanka tour.
It is noted that when BBL contracts were signed, the Sri Lanka series schedule had not been finalized, making the conflict unavoidable for some players.
