Pakistan makes history as lawmaker joins FIFA Reforms Committee

2 min read

Pakistan has reached a significant milestone in the field of sports as Member of National Assembly Syeda Amna Batool has been appointed to FIFA’s prestigious Institutional Reforms Committee.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Syeda Amna Batool is currently the only representative from Pakistan serving on various FIFA committees. Her appointment marks an important achievement both in sports and diplomatic representation for the country.

The move reflects FIFA’s renewed confidence in Pakistan’s institutional direction and acknowledges the country’s positive and constructive role in global football governance.

Officials say this appointment is the result of the government’s continuous and serious efforts to promote football. Under Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif’s leadership, the government has demonstrated a clear political commitment to develop football as a free, transparent, and merit-based sport.

Recently, Prime Minister Sharif met with Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa, President of the Asian Football Confederation and FIFA Senior Vice President. During the meeting, Pakistan reaffirmed its commitment to a self-governing and transparent football federation, nationwide football development, and hosting international football events.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino also praised Prime Minister Sharif’s growing commitment to promoting football in Pakistan, signaling recognition of the country’s progress on the international stage.
