The Pakistan national hockey team will participate in the FIH Hockey World Cup Qualifiers next year in Egypt. The main FIH World Cup is scheduled to be held in Germany and the Netherlands, where Germany will defend its title.
Four-time champions Pakistan have been placed in Pool B of the qualifiers alongside England, Australia, host nation Egypt, Malaysia, the United States, Japan, and China. From the qualifiers, four teams will secure spots in the FIH Hockey World Cup.
Before the qualifiers, Pakistan will play four matches in the Pro League 26, second phase, in Hobart, Australia, from February 10 to 14, 2026, under the captaincy of Imad Shakil Butt. They will face world champions Germany and hosts Australia in preparation for the Egypt tournament.
The FIH has yet to announce the exact dates for the World Cup Qualifiers in Egypt.
Historically, Pakistan has won the FIH Hockey World Cup four times: in Barcelona (Spain) 1971, Buenos Aires (Argentina) 1978, Mumbai (India) 1982, and Sydney (Australia) 1994, the last triumph under the leadership of Olympian Shahbaz Senior.
