Pakistani mountaineer Samina Baig has reached the South Pole, taking another step toward completing the Explorer Grand Slam. The Gilgit-born adventurer arrived via the Union Glacier and successfully skied to the South Pole.
Speaking about her achievement, Samina’s brother Mirza Ali said she chose a challenging skiing route for the expedition. Upon reaching the South Pole, Samina proudly hoisted the flag of Pakistan and a community banner.
Samina Baig now aims to reach the North Pole to complete the Explorer Grand Slam, which requires visiting both poles and summiting the Seven Summits. She has already conquered the Seven Summits, making this her next major milestone.
