Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sohail Afridi has announced a significant increase in financial assistance for the families of security personnel martyred in what he described as India’s “cowardly attack” in May 2025.

During a meeting with the families of martyrs from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the chief minister said the provincial government stood shoulder to shoulder with the heirs of those who laid down their lives in the defence of the country.

He announced that the compensation amount for the families of martyred personnel, previously approved by the provincial cabinet at Rs5 million, would be doubled to Rs10 million. He also declared an increase in financial assistance for injured personnel from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, raising the amount from Rs1 million to Rs2.5 million.

Sohail Afridi said the sacrifices made by the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were a guarantee of the country’s security and stability. He added that martyrs never truly die and that martyrdom holds the highest status in Islam.

The chief minister further said that the martyrs were a source of pride for the province and assured the families that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government would continue to take full care of their needs.
