Shaheen Afridi pulled from bowling after struggling in BBL debut

Pakistan fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi had a difficult start to his Big Bash League (BBL) career, being removed from bowling during his debut match for Melbourne Renegades against Brisbane Heat.

Afridi bowled 2.4 overs, conceding 43 runs without taking a wicket. His spell included three no-balls and two wides. While he began his second over with three dot balls, he struggled to maintain line and length thereafter.

In the 18th over of the Renegades’ innings, Afridi delivered two high full-toss balls to Tim Seifert and Ollie Price, prompting the umpires to stop him from bowling further due to dangerous deliveries. After being taken off, Afridi appeared to smile lightly, while Renegades captain Nathan McSweeney bowled the remaining two balls of the over himself.

Renegades finished their 20 overs with a strong total of 212 for 5. Seifert starred with 102 runs off 56 balls, and Price scored 57 off 29 balls. Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan, making his BBL debut, scored 4 runs off 10 balls batting at number three before being dismissed.
