Female representation in federal jobs stands at 5.83%

Official figures have revealed that women account for a small fraction of Pakistan’s federal workforce, highlighting a significant gender gap in government employment.

According to government documents, a total of 31,455 women are currently employed across federal ministries, divisions, attached departments, subordinate offices, and constitutional bodies.

The data shows that 38 federal ministries and divisions together employ 581,581 staff members. Of these, 550,126 are men, while 31,455 are women, placing female representation at just 5.83 percent of the total federal workforce.

In light of the figures, the Establishment Division has issued a fresh directive to all ministries and divisions, seeking updated data on the implementation of the 10 percent women’s quota in federal jobs. The move aims to assess compliance and gather the latest information on gender representation within government institutions.
