Frontier Corps North Balochistan and Quetta Customs carried out a major joint anti-smuggling operation in Quetta, seizing large consignments of smuggled cigarettes, betel nut and tea, officials said on Saturday.

As part of the operation, 10 trucks loaded with smuggled goods were confiscated and shifted to a customs warehouse. Authorities said the estimated value of the seized items is around Rs70 Crore.

Officials noted that the latest operation is part of an intensified crackdown launched over the past three weeks, during which smuggled goods worth billions of rupees have been recovered. These seizures included more than 70 luxury vehicles, along with cigarettes, tea, fabric, betel nut and narcotics.

The crackdown is being carried out nationwide on the directives of the federal government and the military leadership to curb smuggling and protect the national economy.

Collector Customs Enforcement Quetta said that customs authorities would continue joint operations alongside the Pakistan Army and other law enforcement agencies to combat smuggling. He added that no hostile elements would be allowed to undermine the country’s economy or national security, and the operations would continue until the menace of smuggling is fully eliminated.
