1 min read

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi held a key meeting with European Union Commissioner for Home Affairs and Migration, Magnus Berner, to discuss measures against illegal immigration, human smuggling, and ways to enhance bilateral cooperation.

During the meeting, Commissioner Berner praised Pakistan for a 47 percent reduction in attempts to reach Europe via illegal routes over the past year, calling the country’s efforts exemplary. He also announced plans to visit Pakistan soon to directly review anti-illegal migration measures and consult on future strategies.

Minister Naqvi highlighted that 1,770 human smugglers and their agents have been arrested in Pakistan this year, demonstrating the government’s zero-tolerance policy toward illegal immigration.

Both sides agreed to strengthen a coordinated strategy against illegal migration, human trafficking, and drug smuggling, aiming for more effective joint action in the future.
