Punjab authorities have ramped up enforcement against traffic violations, focusing on illegal number plates and dark-tinted windows across the province.
An official report obtained by Internews shows that in the first ten months of 2025, authorities identified more than 794,000 vehicles with illegal number plates, imposing fines exceeding PKR 202 million. At the same time, over 202,000 challans were issued for dark-tinted windows, collecting more than PKR 101 million in penalties.
Lahore emerged as the district with the highest number of violations, with over 300,000 vehicles fined for illegal plates and more than 64,000 for tinted windows. Other districts with significant infractions included Faisalabad, Gujranwala, and Multan.
Punjab Traffic Police said the campaign is part of efforts to ensure public safety and uphold traffic laws, warning that enforcement may become even stricter in the coming months.
