Pakistan is presenting “profitable opportunities” for U.S. entrepreneurs, particularly in IT, energy, and minerals sectors, said Ambassador Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, Pakistan’s envoy to the United States. He emphasized that both countries are committed to anchoring bilateral relations in economic cooperation and creating an investor-friendly environment.
According to official statement, speaking during a meeting with a 35-member student delegation from Yale School of Management at the Embassy of Pakistan in Washington, DC, Ambassador Sheikh highlighted Pakistan’s strategic location at the crossroads of South Asia, Central Asia, and the Middle East, which offers U.S. businesses connectivity to energy-rich Central Asia and Gulf markets.
The Yale delegation, facilitated by the United States-Pakistan Business Alliance, is set to visit Pakistan to explore business opportunities, engage with policymakers, and assess the country’s investment potential.
Ambassador Sheikh outlined key sectors for investment, including tourism, agriculture, manufacturing, energy, and information technology. He noted Pakistan’s cost-effective advantages, a tech-savvy youth population, and a skilled workforce capable of meeting growing U.S. market demands, especially in technology.
He also highlighted policy measures by the Government of Pakistan, including the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), aimed at improving ease of doing business and attracting foreign investment. “The success of over 80 U.S. companies already operating profitably in Pakistan demonstrates the country’s vast economic potential,” the Ambassador added.
The Yale students thanked the Ambassador for his briefing and expressed appreciation for the Embassy’s support in facilitating their forthcoming visit to Pakistan.
