The National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) has issued a comprehensive travel advisory as dense fog continues to blanket several regions of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Sindh, significantly reducing visibility on major highways.
According to an NHMP spokesperson, the thick fog has sharply lowered visibility, increasing the risk of road accidents on national highways and motorways. Officials warned that, in severe conditions, motorway sections may be temporarily closed to ensure the safety of travellers.
Motorists have been advised to complete their journeys between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m., and to avoid unnecessary travel during nighttime when fog density typically intensifies.
The advisory instructs drivers to use fog lights, ensure wipers are functioning properly, maintain greater-than-usual distance from vehicles ahead, and avoid using high-beam headlights, which further impair visibility in fog.
Passengers have been urged to check the latest traffic conditions before starting their journey by contacting the NHMP helpline 130, tuning in to FM 95 radio, or following NHMP’s official social media channels including @nhmp.
The spokesperson emphasized that protecting lives and property remains the force’s top priority, adding that NHMP teams are on alert round the clock and taking all necessary measures to maintain road safety.
