The Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) has approved the appointment of Justice Mian Gul Hassan Orungzeb as a permanent judge of the Supreme Court.
The decision came during a meeting chaired by Chief Justice Yahya Afridi, where Justice Orungzeb, who has been serving as a special judge for the past year, was confirmed for a permanent position. However, according to some media reports, Justice Munib Akhtar opposed his permanent appointment during the session.
In the same meeting, the JCP approved the appointment of Zafar Ahmed Rajput as the permanent Chief Justice of the Sindh High Court. The commission also recommended Justice Muhammad Kamran Mulla Khail for permanent Chief Justice of the Balochistan High Court. Both appointments were made unanimously.
These confirmations mark a significant step in solidifying leadership positions across Pakistan’s top judicial bodies.
